Overview

A short Microsoft promo comparing classic Teams with the rewritten new Teams side by side, claiming faster startup and better performance. The new version is shown taking around nine seconds to launch.

On Hacker News

Not recommended; it is cited mockingly as an example of software bloat and of Microsoft calling a slow startup fast.

I'm reminded of the Teams team making a comparison video between their old and new versions, which only went to show that the new version was also really slow (9 seconds). [VIDEO]

Startup time is very important Some apps get poorly reviewed due to slow startup time Also 3sec on your dev machine = 10sec on regular machines Don't be like Microsoft, don't pretend 9 seconds is fast startup time :) [VIDEO] "10MinuteMail shared how they used GraalVM and Spring Boot 3 to reduce their startup time from ~30 s down to about 3 ms, and memory usage from 6.6 GB down to 1 GB, with the same throughput and CPU utilization."
