Overview

Kirsten Dirksen tours the underground ferro-cement dome home of Paula and Bill Lishman, the family behind the geese-led flight story. The skylit earth-sheltered house stays warm below the frost line.

On Hacker News

HN points to it as an interesting real-world example of earth-sheltered living for staying cool or warm.

Now that is the coolest fridge I've ever seen. Found a video of it in action (yes, featuring the same dad joke all over the comments but that is not stopping me): [VIDEO] That entire place is mind-bending.

The one by the people who flew with the geese is interesting. [VIDEO] Edit: I'm thinking mostly underground is much cheaper and reduces the risks of wildfire, wind, hail, tornado, and lightning. / There's also the opal miners in Australia who built their whole town underground. [LINK]
