Since we are on a metaphorical plane today. Let me put my comment along similar lines on a youtube video [1] You see in Zombie movies, the zombie is always trying to turn an individual capable of moral decisions, empathy, insight into just another zombie out of his own self interest. Our society is actually far closer to the truth shown in those movies. Just because people are not biting each other does not mean those movies are far from reality. Symbolically those movies are depicting the fact that there are people, groups, organizations, companies who are trying to rob a man from himself by trying to turn that individual into just another member of the herd who looks out for nothing more than self interest which are not even his own but of that group. Tell me this is any different than what is shown in those zombie movies. [1] Is a Mass Psychosis the Greatest Threat to Humanity? - [LINK] You may also like [2] In Shadow - [VIDEO]

In my experience as a man, most of the men I’ve had around me tend to avoid talking about what is going on inside of them, not sharing and describing what they feel and how this relates to their unmet human needs. "The reality is that men are hurting and that the whole culture responds to them by saying, 'Please do not tell us what you feel.' ... If we cannot heal what we cannot feel, by supporting patriarchal culture that socializes men to deny feelings, we doom them to live in states of emotional numbness. We construct a culture where male pain can have no voice, where male hurt cannot be named or healed." — bell hooks This quote resonates with me. I want to share a few more gifts and ideas that have come my way in the past few years. Last year I learned about the work of Pia Mellody, who believes that that there is not just one type of abuse, ‘disempowering abuse’ - shaming someone and making that person see themselves as ‘less than’ others, but two types of abuse. The second type of abuse, which I think American culture suffers, is what Pia calls: ‘false empowerment’, making a person feel like they are somehow 'better than' others. This leads to people having what she calls other-esteem , in contrast to reality-based self-esteem - which someone on the internet described as: "other-esteem happens when we base our self-worth on external things". Psychologist Terrence Real has a great summary which I copied from his book ‘How Can I Get Through to You? Reconnecting Men and Wo

I have setup a self hosted note server[0] on Raspberry PI. Here's my workflow: - Remembered a todo or note? Type note in your browser address bar with keyword 'pin' prefixed pin todo!pay the rent pin grocery!handwash pin [VIDEO] - Note gets saved in markdown document like todo.md, grocery.md and watchlist.md. 'pin' is the keyword I have configured for my Pi server and browser thinks its a search engine. - A http shortcut on Android when clicked shows a dialog box with todo.md contents. - Edit/View notes using mapped network drive in your favorite markdown editor both on desktop/mobile. You can also view all the notes in your browser. [0]: [LINK]
