A lot of NVC writing is pretty bad. I recommend going directly to the source [VIDEO] (3h video, but worth the time) I think NVC is better understood as a framework to reach deep non-judging empathic understanding than a speech pattern. If you are not really engaging in curious exploration of the other party using the OFNR framework before trying to deliver your own request I don’t think you can really call it NVC. At the very least it will be very hard to get your point across even with OFNR if ot validating the receiver. Validation being another word needing disambiguation I suppose. I see it as the act of expressing non-judging emphatic understanding. Using the OFNR framework with active listening can be a great approach. A similar framework is the evaporating clouds of Theory of Constraints: [LINK] Also see Kants categorical imperative: moral actions must be based on principles that respect the dignity and autonomy of all individuals, rather than personal desires or outcomes

Do you have hope that you will find it in the future? It seems like you did not find it yet? I am grateful that I found my key to love both with my spouse but also via being increasingly able to connect to all the other lovely persons and creatures (dogs,...) in my life :) But it was a long path for me. For me, I discovered it more and more after years of dancing Salsa, Bachata etc where the best teachers always focus on connection as well as leading and following. Those experiences together with regularly changing between the lead and the follow - while always being clear who plays which part - was the key for me. And also the book "Hold me Tight" gave me mental clarity which led to mental clarity for organizing the experiences that I had in my life before. It was a life-changing event for me when I learned about this. together with watching the following video (which I did 1 year before and practiced it regularly with my wife): [VIDEO]

I often wonder the same thing. A similar aim was expressed in at least one of RMS' essays. The other comments here remind me of how pessimistic and lacking in imagination the tech crowd tends to be. Because earlier attempts failed, does that make an endeavor "impossible"/"naive"? People cite "human nature", but forget that there exist and have existed systems of living, radically different from what they are used to, which gave rise to completely different "human nature" - or perhaps merely gave it a healthier environment, so it manifested very differently. (This "problem" is frequently refuted in anarchist texts.) I'll leave some links which I think are relevant to this quest. I hope they provide some answers, or at least provoke further searching. 1. [LINK] 2. [LINK] 3. [VIDEO] 4. [LINK] I hope we find a way. And for those looking and trying to move beyond the status quo, I supply a maxim to bear in mind when facing the unimaginative and the complacent - "It's always impossible until it's done."
