Overview

A 2000 IBM commercial in which Avery Brooks complains that we still have no flying cars. It plays on the failed futurist promises of the twentieth century.

On Hacker News

HN commenters reference it, sometimes jokingly, in flying-car threads as an ironic sign that culture had written off the idea.

Every time I see an article on flying cars, I can't help but be reminded of an old IBM commercial[0] from 2000. Deliciously ironic considering it represented the fact that mainstream culture had all but written off the idea entirely. [0] [VIDEO]
